The General Lee was the mechanical star in the The Dukes of Hazzard.

The Dukes of Hazzard was about racing the backs roads of Hazzard County, Georgia. Back in the 1980's the TV series was compulsive Saturday evening viewing. You just couldn't miss the crazy antics as the Duke Boys (Bo and Luke) tried to outrun, outwit and out jump the devious and greedy Boss Hog along with his simple-minded henchman Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane as they sped around Hazzard County in their souped-up orange Dodge Charger named The General Lee. The popular TV series ran from 1979 to 1985.

The cast included John Schneider (Bo Duke), Tom Wopat (Luke Duke); Sorrell Brooke played Boss Hogg with James Best portraying the dim-witted Sheriff. The sexy Catherine Bach (Daisy Duke) scampered across the screen wearing the skimpiest of cut-off shorts in TV history provided the glamour. Country singer Waylon Jennings narrated the episodes and also gave us the "Theme From The Dukes Of Hazzard (Good Ol' Boys)".
